THE JOURNEY OF ST. CONRAD

THE ROUTE MAP
IT WAS A LONG PILGRIMAGE

Finally, the hermitic turn in Noto

by Umberto Battini
    historian of San Corrado Confalonieri

Analyzing the various historical sources that tell us about S. Corrado, and reasoning with logical rigor on certain events, this journey, which lasted several years, before reaching Noto is well conceivable.
For example, the length of his life as a convert, in 1315 in the hermitage hospital for pilgrims in Calendasco, must be taken into consideration. Place managed by lay Franciscan tertiaries, lay people gathered in fraternity as provided for by the "Supra Montem" Rule of 1289 given by Pope Nicholas IV.
And then the years of novitiate in that place, which we know had to last a few years, before he could receive the actual grey tertiary habit.
